Narrator:

Are you a veteran or a partner of a veteran and want new skills to support your career?

The Veterans Skills Page has access to the right training and course for you.

Nationally accredited, fee-free, full OR part qualifications are available to a veteran of the ADF or partner of a veteran who lives or works in NSW.

A full qualification takes up to two years to complete for Certificate level up to an Advanced Diploma.

You can start with a short or part qualification course offering new skill sets and a license to fast track your career. Later, you can complete full quals if you want.

To choose a course for full quals simply scroll up the page to the Skills Navigator Tool and search.

Say you want to do a course in Project Management and you live in Wagga Wagga.

Select how close to home you want to search.

The results from your search will reveal how many courses and providers there are.

It’s important to know that results having an orange highlight and the words “Job Trainer” means it’s fee-free. Any other result will require a low fee which you will have to pay.

Notice how one result says “qualification” and one says “traineeship’. Make sure you choose only “qualification”.

Now click the drop down at the end to see all the results.

You can filter searches down even further. For instance, by student satisfaction…

…or course completion.

When you’ve found the course and provider you want, choose “provider details” for contact information.

Make sure you let them know you’re a veteran or a partner of a veteran so you can get the fee-free training.

You also can check your eligibility here. It will take you to a short series of questions and your answers will determine if you’re eligible or not.

How about short courses?

These can be good if you’ve done some training in the ADF but haven’t quite finished it off.  Or you want to add to your skill set.

So let’s scroll down here…and select the industry you’re interested in.

Then you can filter down further…

…by region if you want.

That’s it!

It’s easy to take the next step in your career journey.

Flying high

After leaving the Air Force in 2011, Mel Risby decided to try a new career in real estate. She chose a Certificate IV in Real Estate through TAFE NSW for its qualifications, flexibility and industry specific skills.

A VET pathway was the starting point to my successful career progression from Real Estate Agent to now being a Business Development Manager for a national Construction and Property Development company.
