Full qualification
A VET qualification will broaden your skills in a specialised area and give you the practical experience you'll need for the workplace. It will train you to design, plan and execute the practical and technical aspects of your field within an industry context. Certificates I?IV generally take from six months to two years to complete full time; diploma courses typically take one or two years and advanced diplomas usually take between 18 months to two years.
Apprenticeship
An apprenticeship combines practical skills learnt on the job with an employer and formal learning from an approved provider. As an apprentice, you'll spend three to four years learning a traditional trade and gaining a qualification, usually a Certificate III or IV. Typically you?ll work four days a week, and attend formal training one day a week.
Traineeship
A traineeship combines practical skills learnt on the job with an employer and formal learning from an approved provider. A traineeship will take you one to three years to complete, depending on your industry and qualification. Typically you?ll work four days a week, and attend formal training one day a week.
Short Course
A part-qualification is a short course made up of subjects from a nationally recognised VET qualification. You may receive a Statement of Attainment when you complete a part qualification. If you successfully complete a part qualification, you can build on that learning to complete a full qualification at Certificate I, II, III or IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma levels.
